Frequently Asked Questions

We hope some of the FAQ's below help answer questions you may have. If they do not you can always contact us on our Facebook Group, or via email at [email protected]

Where are the games held?

We play all home games at Franklink At Brimhall Jr. High. This is off Southern in between Higley and Greenfield.

The address is 4949 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85206.

Some division we interleague with. Those games may be with Apache Junction Little League, which are at Prospector park, or with Red Mountain Softball Little League, which are at Fiesta Park or Quail Run.

All the other girl LL’s wear tank tops, why not us?

We are different. We wear jerseys. Easy enough right :)

When is season?

Check Dustdevilsoftball.org and click the tab “League Central” You will find either “fall dates” or “spring dates”. Click on whatever one you are inquiring about and check out the dates!

Typically Spring runs from February to end of April into mid May.

Typically Fall runs from September to mid November.

Where and when do the teams practice?

Your coach is responsible for the time, date and location of practices. We, as an organization, are diligently working to provide every team a field to practice at. It is not feasible at this time but we will offer dates and time slots for Brimhall as the schedule becomes finalized.

What is the Model Release Form?

This form allows the parent to give permission to have their kiddo's picture taken during games, events, etc... and to be posted on the website, facebook group, twitter, etc...

What equipment is given to the teams?

As of right now we do not have set items. However, through donations and sponsors we are working hard to provide each team with a laundry list of equipment. Softball is an equipment based sport. We fully understand that for coaches to feel empowered to run an effective and efficient practice, proper equipment is a MUST!

What equipment is needed for my daughter to play?

  • Softball/Baseball pants
  • Glove
  • Cleats (minors and up…..coach pitch and tballers can get away wearing tennis shoes, save your money!)
  • Helmet with face guard (each team will be provided a few but certainly not enough for everyone)
  • Bat (not required but it will help them have more reps during practice rather than sharing)

What size bat should I buy?

Bat length is roughly 50% of the height of your child. Weight is determined by how comfortable with their swing. HEAVIER IS NOT better. Understand that a swing is a feel and if your child looks like they are trying to swing a jack hammer, it’s to heavy and they are learning bad habits. Find a bat they are comfortable swinging with little effort (especially if they are just learning!) More experienced players will lean towards heavier bats as they are familiar with their swings. 50% of our players are not experienced. Go lighter, feel the mechanics, get body movements correct….then go bigger;)

“drop” just means the difference between the length and weight of the bat. So if you pick up a bat and it’s a 30in bat and you see -13…..it weighs 17 oz. if you have a 32 inch bat and see -10….its a 22oz bat.

How do I become a sponsor?

Check the website under League Central for the form. We run on donations! All equipment, game balls, facilities, umpires, and jerseys are paid for with registration AND sponsor money. We wouldn’t exist without the generosity of our community! We are tax exempt under the Little League International Group EIN. We have our IRS Determination Letter to provide as needed.
