Facility Improvements

Hey Community!

The big thing we learned for our first Spring season is that Brimhall/Franklin Jr High could use some work to make it a better experience for the girls and the parents, and well...pretty much everyone who attends the facility. Given our boundaries, there are not many dedicated complexes for the Little League. The dedicated complexes are in the North Mesa area. We would continue to find new places to play, but we feel that with some improvements this complex would not only benefit our Little League, but also the community in general (which is part of our League Motto).

The business side of me says, "why we would do this, when others could/will be utilizing it". Then the other side of me says "well, we can truly impact the community".

Given this complex is actually really well, it just needs some care. We have spoken to Mesa Public Schools and asked what it would take to make this happen. We submitted a proposal to them and got a quote from contractors. Needless the say the quote was high, around $17,000 for just items 1-3. We are seeing how we can knock this down, or how others in the community may be able to help.

Below is the copy of Jamie's message on Facebook to the Group on June 29th. I have also included the items we proposed to MPS.

"We use Brimhall/Franklin Jr. High for our games. We want to make necessary improvements to this facility. I spoke with a fencing company and was quoted almost 17K for items 1-3 (not realistic for our league). After our community meeting last night, it is apparent, we have a very handy and skilled set of parents!!! Message me if you are interested in helping us accomplish these things through financial donation, materials, or your skill set.

These are listed in order of importance. Its AZ....our girls should be in shade while in the dugouts!"

Facility Improvements

1: Shade over East Field/Multi-use field dug outs and wrap dugouts with shade material along fencing

2: Extend all dugouts 6-8 feet length wise and 2 feet width wise to provide bat and helmet holders and a 2nd - - opening to move in and out of the field
- This would involve moving the benches down, pouring concrete, adding larger shade covers and chainlink fencing work.

3: Move batting cage down left field fence
- will provide necessary room for pitchers to throw work outs and warm up for games without interfering with practice

4: Adding sail shades over bleachers.

5: Build concession stand under football bleachers
 - approx 10*10

 - with water, electrical, cabinets, countertops.
